This house holds a lot of memories — mostly painful ones. This was the last house in the U.S. I lived in before moving to Taiwan. I just stopped by as I'm currently in Austin, Texas in the middle of their "big freeze" before heading to Puerto Rico tomorrow... I parked across the street and took a moment to reflect upon my time here six years ago: ⤷ Realizing that I was in an unsustainable marriage ⤷ Struggling through severe postpartum depression ⤷ Figuring out how to support my small family financially And still, I loved it here, because: ✔️ I built a remarkable community filled with entrepreneurial women ✔️ I made friends who became my true family ✔️ I lived in a beautiful city that I dreamed of living in since I was in my late 20's and made it a reality It was also the birthplace of Wild Hearted Words! While I was sitting quietly in the car earlier this afternoon, practicing a Hawaiian forgiveness technique, I got a phone call from a woman who I hope will join my team in 2024 to scale my business to the next level. I realized it was the perfect moment to drive away... With my future calling into my present so that I could make peace with my past and close that chapter of my life. As a content marketer and a storyteller, I often say: "Life may not always be pretty, but it is indeed beautiful — make your story beautiful today." Part of building wisdom is to understand that being human entails every facet of emotion. We're simply not taught that this is normal. That this is okay. That the pain and hardship are just as valuable as the joy and love. The secret to success is to keep going. To keep your heart open. (And to set healthy boundaries.) To know that just as much as you will be disappointed, you will also be delighted. There is so much good in the future ahead. And you are so needed in this world. ▶ ▶ What is a place that you have had to make peace with? ◀ ◀ Deirdre Walsh & Emilie Kopp; Dillar Schwartz, MCNE; Adrian X. I apologize for being obtuse. But, you mention a lot of things in the first paragraph and it confused me. So, you live in Austin, Texas currently (right now) but this was the last place in the USA you lived in before you left to Taiwan (many years ago maybe?)? And then you are moving to Puerto Rico tomorrow (a US territory)? Can you further explain the beginning of your story? Or maybe I completely missed something and if so I apologize. Good luck in everything that you are doing! thanks for the story.
