Be our guest! Find out about how to be on The Full Stop podcast.

I loved being a guest! It was great to share the space with others, and I particularly valued the chance to share my unique story and to share the overlap with others who live with chronic illness. Knowing that I am not the only one going through this is always helpful. I was able to find my fellow guests on social media afterwards too; it’s great to keep that connection going!

The Full Stop podcast is listened to across the world. It’s the only podcast for childless not by choice that offers a diverse point of view. All our guests have a story to tell that our listeners will want to hear.

We invite you to find out about being a guest on The Full Stop podcast.

Who is a good guest?

We are all about connections so it’s someone who is happy to connect with us. Ideally you will already listen to us and you’ll be comfortable with us including your photo in our podcast cover. Generally most of our guests have a presence online but you do not need to be famous, a community leader or have written a book, been on stage etc. We welcome honest conversation, it works better for our audience too.

Bookings

  • Your form goes to Sarah who looks after our bookings.

  • If we have a theme in mind, we’ll be in touch to talk about it.

  • You may be sharing a slot with others and we’ll tell you who they are. Most of our guests become friends if they’ve not met before!

  • If it’s not a topic we’re covering right now for any reason, we will keep your details on our planning board. Promise, we don't just say that! We also run events inside our Community hub and you’ll be invited to this space.

  • Our podcast is usually recorded on Zoom and there will be an audience from our online community who remain on mute with cameras off. If you’d prefer to record one-to-one, that’s okay too.

  • We will add you to our Community a few days ahead of the podcast (if you are not already a member) so you can join in with any post-podcast chat.

  • In the meantime you can ask any of us any questions, it’s important that you’re comfortable.

What makes a good recording?

  • Originality, a theme we’ve not yet covered or one that you think we need to return to. Tell us!

  • A story. We are happy to be part of a book tour or promotion but this should be balanced by a story or information to help our listeners.

  • Diversity and inclusivity. We welcome all who are childless not be choice for any reason into our space.

  • Authenticity and passion, with a dollop of compassion. There is no competition in our space, we want you to succeed.

  • Patience! We’re regularly booked up to six months in advance but please do get in touch so we can discuss.

Diversity, inclusion and episode curators

We are mindful of diversity and the empowered platform that our podcast can bring to spaces in our community such as single, chronic illness, ageing, LGBTQIA+, faith and colour. We never close down a conversation by speaking on behalf of others. We welcome you to our space.

We do not promote religious or political themes, anti-vaccine or oppression. We are a childless podcast, so trying to conceive or alternative ways to conceive not based in medicine is not appropriate for our audience who have mostly past this stage. There are other podcasts that maybe more suitable.

Our Listeners List friends are invited to talk to us about curating an episode. We’ll support you in inviting your own guests and guide you as the host.

Before the recording

  • We record our episodes on the second weekend of the month starting at 10am and require at least one hour of your time. If you are on a timezone outside of Australia or the UK, we’ll do our best to accommodate this. We have run podcasts at 3pm GMT to suit guests in the USA for example. If this isn’t possible we will try to make as many of us available. Sarah will arrange the booking with you.

  • If you need to reschedule please allow as much notice as you can and be aware that this may push your guest slot to a later date in the year so we can keep to our programme.

  • We’ll have a few minutes to warm up before we hit record.

  • The Full Stop podcast is conversational. You’re welcome to email us with any article or links that you’d like us to refer to and discuss.

  • We welcome competitions such as book giveaways and we are flexible on how these are run as long as they are legally compliant.

  • No payment is made to guests participating on our podcast. The Full Stop podcast and all content is owned by directors of the The Full Stop Childless Community (CIC) and is not-for-profit.

At the start of the recording

  • Before recording starts we generally have a quick check in and make sure everyone is OK. This is a bit of a warm up and it’s not recorded so you can get to know us a bit better. During this time please ensure:

    • your email is logged out, to avoid notification noises;

    • all webpages that send notifications are logged out of, again to avoid notification noises;

    • the location is as free, as much as possible, of background noise or distractions

  • Please note, we record the sessions with video on, so that we can see each other, as it makes it easier to ‘read’ people. The video feed isn’t used, just the audio, but if video feed causes you to feel uncomfortable, you are welcome to turn the camera off.

  • We like to have a relaxed and welcoming feel to the recordings, which is why you’re welcome to discuss your back story and express yourself how you see fit.

  • You can ask us to edit out anything up to a week after the recording but once the episode is pubished, we cannot guarantee that we can replace the audio. Please contact Michael about this.

After the session

  • Please do share that you’ve appeared on the podcast, along with links on your social media accounts. You can tag us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and connect to our page on LinkedIn.

  • We’re also happy to post any relevant articles that you’ve written on our blog

  • You can find the episode on our website which connects to Stitcher, Spotify and Apple. Our Podbean distribution goes to Google Play and TuneIn.

  • Our newsletter alerts our Listener’s List to new episodes and we share new releases on our social media accounts. We will feature your social media details here and in the show notes.
