THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF INTERSECTION IN NFTS

APRIL 3, 2022

I recently finished reading a book about how creativity can potentiate through good use of intersection, that is, bringing together elements from different fields or areas to create, create something novel enough but at the same time familiar. It could be a hybrid, one strong enough to motivate you every day because you know that the result will have a revolutionary effect, even if it doesn't always work on the first try.

That has happened with NFTs and the arts, an intersection with pros and cons, but it has more advantages and benefits than disadvantages. So far, visual artists have found a space, a showcase where visibility and success are the results of self-management skills on different platforms. But the art medium is not limited to the visual arts; we know there exists an extraordinary breadth of potential. I'm amazed by how another of the arts is being integrated into the digital medium in visual mode: writing.

I could hardly have imagined listening to a poem through an image, literally, with as much impact as the image itself, where the result is as impactful and relevant to the very fusion of the arts. The challenge for literary artists is to capture the lyrics in an audio-visual and visual medium. Each project I have seen challenges the creativity of each artist to surpass themselves and raise the quality of the collaborations or their work in solitary.

My amazement doesn't stop when I see how different artistic areas have merged in the technological universe. Still, it increases every day when I realize that we generate a contemporary culture with each new approach and conception. This space is like a cell dividing and forming different communities, niches, and intersections. It's something that won't stop; it will evolve. Contrary to what one might believe (that emptying our creativity in digital mode makes it distant and cold), it has proven to be a space of belonging, where creatives find a space they belong and people they identify with.

The intersection works and proves its effectiveness when different artists create art in a disruptive digital platform, the magic of human creativity when it comes out of its limits, seeing itself exceeded and challenged.

For now, we will continue to marvel at everything that emerges from the intersection between technology and art and culture, and we will continue to enjoy the work of Ana María Caballero, Sasha Stiles, Laurence Fuller, among others.

So artists, don't stop making art and materialise it on canvas or a sheet of paper with the written word. Until now, we didn't know the possibility of transcendence at this intersection or know the future of art conservation or how it will transform cultural heritage in the future.
