Gemma Ray should have a PhD in procrastination. Her book on self discipline (that she had no self discipline to write) continues to top the best seller charts helping people develop their own self discipline strategies. Gemma writes from the heart for real people who need a hand pulling their finger out to take action and realise their potential.

Gemma has written for a number of publications, newspapers, blogs and businesses before realising a childhood dream of becoming an author. She writes "the books I need to read myself" and packages her research in a personal, fun account that is easy to read and even easier to implement.

Self proclaiming to "Not always having all my s*&% together", Gemma's down-to-earth delivery and style makes you feel like you have a friend between the pages giving you simple advice over a coffee. She continues that support for her readers through her online coaching courses and Facebook accountability groups, giving readers direct access to her no-nonsense witty retorts that makes accountability a whole lot of fun.

A collection of sensible approaches to getting your productivity in order.

Procrastination is a killer of good ideas and productivity, and there are many different books, blogs, talks etc that concentrate on single paths to success in both beating it and taking onboard some accountability through self discipline. What this book does differently is avoid concentrating on single area outcomes (like solely work or personal) and looks at self-discipline from a personal level, applied in any number of areas ranging from your home life to getting a start up off the ground. Backing those ideas up with clear examples from different walks of life.

If you want to re-evaluate how you do or don’t get things done, take a look at this frank walk through of being honest with yourself, learning to plan, setting a visualizing goals and in the end, reviewing and celebrating success (and learning from failure along the way). Don’t worry about being blinded by pseudo-science or unrealistic ideals, starting at ground level on realistic goals seems to be a theme.

Shame about the Donkey Sanctuary though ;)

I had high expectations for this book, it starts out great, but as it progresses, gradually feels like I’m reading stories of multiple attempts at self discipline with a heavy influence on social media and feels like I’m reading a blog online in the end. It was entertaining, that is the reason for the three stars, but I’m left with high level opinions about self discipline. The references to the Secret (a book by Rhonda Byrne) is all you have to know, some people like those books, but not me

Easy read with some great tips and advice on getting yourself more organised, on setting and achieving personal goals. It’s certainly helped me at a time when normality went out the window. There is sure to be some sound advice in here for everyone and the self discipline support group has been a good motivator. Thanks Gemma.

This book was phenomenal.

I knew everything in it but it really covered all the bases and I could see it changing someone’s life. I will definitely keep it around for when my my life needs to be put back on track. It is entirely PRACTICAL and applicable to everyone and I wish books like these got more love- ones that give you actual solutions.

Would definitely recommend

The only one you need.

A well written book that is neither highbrow or condescending like some of the self help of positive think books out there. If you only turn to one book in this field then you could do a lot worse than Gemma's guide

Superb book on self motivation.

I’ve read a few books on self-motivation but this one gives you a simple but very effective plan and overview of not just how to put actions in place, but also how to sustain these actions and build life-changing habits. Well done Gemma!

Very thought provoking

This was really helpful and thought provoking for me, a lifetime procrastinator. It made me realise my possible lack of success in my life is down to not even attempting 'things' for fear of failing .... not any more.

Very useful

Really enjoyed this book. I hope I remember a lot of it and put it into practice. If not I aim to revisit the book implementing the steps within and hopefully decrease the amount of procrastination in my day to day life.

One giant sales pitch

Every other page was a link to download her newest 10 steps plan via email and the little information given was often contradictory to itself.
